About the Challenge
The Phoenix Phearsome Phour is a self-supported summit challenge built around four of Phoenix's signature mountains: Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, North Mountain, and Shaw Butte. The goal is simple to state and hard to finish — summit as many of the four as you can within a single 24-hour window.
How It Works
- Pick your target tier before you start — see Tiers.
- Start your 24-hour clock at your first trailhead.
- Summit your peaks in any order, by any legal route — see Routes.
- Log your times and submit your result — see How to Submit.
Why It's Hard
Phoenix heat, full-sun exposure, and the drive time between trailheads turn this into as much of a logistics challenge as a physical one. [Placeholder: add specific heat, hydration, and seasonal guidance.]
Ground Rules
- Self-supported: you're responsible for your own transport between trailheads.
- The 24-hour clock starts when you leave your first trailhead and stops when you summit your last peak.
- All four mountains are public trails — follow posted hours, closures, and Leave No Trace.
- A GPX file of your route is required as proof of summit.
